What is CHAIR YOGA?

Chair based Yoga is great for maintaining balance, strength, mobility, breath and body awareness.

Accessible for all regardless of age, body or experience. 

Cannot get down (or up) from the floor, chair or bed due to age, disability, inflexibility, or injury?

Want to practice yoga where getting down to the floor is impractical (at work, travelling, etc.)?

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: make sure you have a chair that suits your height (your feet easily touch the ground but your knees are not too high), has a supportive back rest and is stable enough that you can use to support your weight and balance if you stand.

Soho Theatre Walthamstow has announced an exciting new partnership with the  Philharmonia Orchestra. 

The Orchestra, who are celebrating their 80th birthday this autumn with a range of new initiatives designed to welcome new audiences to experience live classical music, will bring a vibrant and engaging programme to audiences from Waltham Forest and beyond. Since Soho Theatre Walthamstow opened earlier this year over 30,000 people have seen comedy, theatre, film and more in this beautifully restored venue, and we can’t wait to bring the Philharmonia to this vibrant, curated programme, alongside workshops and activities for audiences old and new. January Workshop in partnership with Communi-tea:

An opportunity for people to take part in a workshop with the Philharmonia, bringing to life the players, instruments and programme.

The workshop will introduce the music of Mozart, led by joint principal

clarinet, Maura Marinucci, and a piano accompanist.

Timings: Monday 12 January, 3.15pm – 4.45pm (after the Communi-tea yoga

session)

(suggested donation £3) gentle chair based, yoga inspired exercise. Using the breath as a guide and awareness practices to centre and self-regulate. Come for Yoga stay for tea.

Tuesday’s Balance and Mobility class!

2pm -3pm

St Andrews Church, Colworth Road E11

This class is not Yoga! But has a great focus on balance and stability. With uplifting music from the 1960’s we practice co-ordination, strengthening and mobility exercises. After regularly attending this class (this could be a minimum of 4 times in row or for 3 months, everybody is different) you may notice you have a maintained or improved level of strength, stamina and stability!

COMMUNI-TEA

2pm - 4.30pm

Good Shepherd Studios, E11

(Supported by Waltham Forest Community Ward Forum Funding) Chair based Yoga inspired exercise using seated and standing poses.

This class might be more challenging for some but will always include variations and options and props to help. come for Yoga stay for TEA!
